How to install on Windows
Because the installer isn’t code-signed yet, Windows shows a blue “Windows protected your PC” (SmartScreen) screen the first time you run it. Getting past it takes about 15 seconds. The video shows the whole flow; the exact steps are below.
- 1
Download and open the installer
Click Download for Windows above. When
Krixel-Setup-0.1.4.exefinishes downloading, open it (double-click it, or click it in your browser’s downloads). - 2
A blue SmartScreen warning appears — this is expected
Windows shows “Windows protected your PC — Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting.” This only means the app isn’t signed yet — nothing is wrong with your download. Don’t click Don’t run.
- 3
Click “More info”
In the dialog, click the small More info link. It reveals App: Krixel-Setup-0.1.4.exe · Publisher: Unknown publisher and a new button.
- 4
Click “Run anyway” — and you’re done
Click Run anyway. The installer runs automatically — everything (AI engine, runtime) is bundled, so there’s nothing else to install — and Krixel opens. You won’t see this screen again.
Want to skip the warning entirely?
Before opening it, right-click Krixel-Setup-0.1.4.exe → Properties → tick Unblock → OK. Or in PowerShell: Unblock-File "$HOME\Downloads\Krixel-Setup-0.1.4.exe"
Why does this happen? SmartScreen flags any app from a developer it doesn’t yet recognize until it’s signed with a code-signing certificate, which we’re finalizing. Until then this is the normal, safe way to run it. The file you allow is the exact installer from this page.
